CHRIS SHANKS TO TALK IN MINNEAPOLIS OCTOBER 13

Date:
Oct 13 2009 - 7:00pm

Agro-forestry and Permaculture in Central America

Lessons, examples, patterns...how could this apply here in the Midwest?

A presentation and discussion with Chris Shanks, Co-Director of Project Bona Fide in Ometepe, Nicaragua.
A permaculturist, design visionary and entrepreneur, Chris Shanks has
spent the past 7 years implementing a 46-acre agroforestry
demonstration farm called "Bona Fide" at the edge of the cloud forest
on Maderas Volcano in Nicaragua.  With local partners including child
nutrition program Café Infantil, many eco-tourism locales, and scores
of local traditional farmers, the Bona Fide example has taken root in
the local community and beyond. Through pictures taken from the past 10 years at Bona Fide and in his extensive travels, Chris shares with us the inspiring
example of his commitment,  his encyclopedic knowledge of tropical and
temperate tree crops, and his passion for permaculture design.  Having
worked in Vermont and Washington State, he knows we can create paradise
right here in the upper Midwest.   Join us for a special evening to
discuss how.
