Beginning Spanish

¡Español!

This adult class is designed for individuals who have had little to no Spanish experience. The focus is CONVERSATIONAL, with emphasis placed on pronunciation, basic grammar and a core vocabulary.

This Autumn 2008 beginner class is suitable for students with no Spanish experience, or for those who speak a little bit of Spanish but want a relaxed approach. We will begin with a two-week session of basic Spanish present-tense grammar and vocabulary, followed by lessons on time, simple past and future tense, and deepening of present tense understanding. In this way we will accomodate new students as well as students who began studying with us in summer 2008. Classroom games, music, and other activities will also help to give individualized attention to "beginners" of varied ability levels and experience. If a student registered for the beginner class wishes to switch up to the intermediate level, he or she will be able to do so.

Two homework assignments per week will be assigned, one very short (Wednesday) and a longer assignment to complete over the weekend. Each will consist of applying the vocabulary to the grammar lessons learned in the class.

Dates and Times: 5:45pm - 7:15 pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays: Oct. 2 - Dec. 4 (10 weeks, 16 sessions). No class Thanksgiving Day.
